Retirement of professor Kitty Jager

The farewell party of Prof. dr. Kitty Jager took place on September 17th. Kitty started to work at the AMC in 2000 as the Managing Director of the European Renal Association (ERA) Registry. The ERA Registry collects data from dialysis and kidney transplant patients through national and regional renal registries in Europe. Under Kitty’s leadership, this Registry has grown into a successful Registry that includes data from nearly all countries in Europe.  In 2012, she was promoted as associate professor, and in 2015 as a full professor in Medical Informatics and Kidney Epidemiology.

Kitty is a well-known epidemiologist specialized in kidney disease, with expertise spanning prevention, incidence, treatment, progression and outcomes of chronic kidney disease and end-stage kidney disease in particular through international comparisons. She has published over 500 scientific articles, including educational papers on epidemiology in leading scientific journals. In recognition of her exceptional clinical contributions to nephrology, Kitty received the prestigious ERA award and, in 2024, was elected to the ERA Council. Additionally, she has played a key role as coordinator and teacher in the Master’s programs of Medical Informatics as well is in the post-master Health Informatics.

We sincerely thank Kitty for her invaluable contributions to our organization over the years and wish her great happiness in the next phase of her life.
