Title: CO-DESIGN OF A DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR PROFESSIONALS PROVIDING CARE TO CHILDREN IN THEIR FIRST 1000 DAYS
Place of the SRP Project: TNO
Introduction: Prenatal care and the preventive child health care (in Dutch jeugdgezondheidszorg, JGZ) is in transition to maintain the quality, accessibility and affordability of care. Primary aim is to provide demand driven and flexible care to all families, also those in vulnerable situations.
I-JGZ aims to involve parents in the growth and development of their child. Through self-monitoring and education. It also aims to provide JGZ professionals decision support to provide more personalized, uniform and efficient care.
TNO developed a decision-support system (DSS), based on JGZ-guidelines, called the JAMES. The JAMES can help professionals (gynaecologists, midwives, doctor, nurses) through their digital dossier to perform their work more effectively and increase the quality of care. JAMES provides visual and textual support for decision making of the professional, in collaboration with parents (to-be).
Description of the SRP Project/Problem: With the integration of the SRM and digital dossier, the prenatal care and JGZ can be personalised and quality and accessibility can be enhanced. However, successful integration requires further research of 1) the user needs for decisions support in the care of young families in vulnerable situations (i.e., user requirements); 2) interoperability of eHealth services in the prenatal care and JGZ for integration (i.e., technical requirements and constraints).
This project is part of the I-JGZ program: https://www.tno.nl/nl/aandachtsgebieden/gezond-leven/roadmaps/youth/i-jgz-geintegreerde-en-gepersonaliseerde-digitale-innovaties-voor-gezonde-jeugd/
Research question: How can JAMES integrated with the SRM contribute to personalized, uniform and efficient care for families in vulnerable situations?
Sub questions/research:
1. What are the user requirements of professionals for JAMES, so that they feel supported in their decision for care and support of client empowerment?
2. How do professionals evaluate JAMES on usability and feasibility, regarding decisions support and increasing client empowerment?
Expected results: 1) User requirements for JAMES in the context of de maternity care and JGZ, dealing with blended care, HCI, patient empowerment, and quality of care (literature review+focus groups); 2) results of a JAMES-prototype evaluation with professionals and parents (evaluation report).
Optional: own redesign of JAMES based on proposal for the integration of JAMES in the context of de maternity care and JGZ.
Time period: 7 months (interviews traineeship start Augusts 15, 2022)
